Finding Your Way to the hill
plane
Reach Chapel Hill easily by flying into RDU Airport. With over 90 nonstop destinations, your delegation is just hours away from touching down in North Carolina’s Research Triangle. When you arrive at RDU, catch an Uber or the GoTriangle 100 to 800 bus for a budget-friendly $2.50 per person.
Check Google Flights for booking info and RDU.com for the most up-to-date information.
BUs
Up for a fun (and entertaining) ride? Consider Greyhound, FlixBus, or if you’re coming from North Carolina or near, Sunway Charters. Stops are available in Chapel Hill, Durham, or Raleigh, and all are a short cheap/free bus ride away from UNC Chapel Hill’s campus. If options are available, we recommend booking to Chapel Hill or Durham for the easiest ride.
Check Greyhound.com, Flixbus.com, or NCDOT for updated info and to purchase tickets. Frequent depatures avalible to points northeast and south.
Automobile
Ready for a road trip? For delegations in the Northeast, South, Midwest, and beyond, if you’re feeling adventurous, Chapel Hill is a scenic road trip away from your school. Choose I-40 or I-85 for a smooth, wooded ride to UNC, and avoid I-95 at all costs.
Check Google Maps for road closure information, especially if you are coming from the west on I-40. Park at the Downtown Chapel Hill Garage at 135 E Rosemary St for a cheap spot.
Train
The best option available (I’m biased). If you have a little more time, or if you’re in between Raleigh and Charlotte, spring for the Amtrak. Choose the Amtrak Carolinian for a scenic, traffic-free journey down the Northeast Corridor, stopping in New York, Philadelphia, D.C., and many points in between. Get off at Durham Station for a convenient bus (GoTriangle 400, $2.50 fare) or Uber to Downtown Chapel Hill. If you’re coming from North Carolina, choose the Amtrak Piedmont for a quick and easy trip down I-40, with 4 round trips daily. Again, get off at Durham station for the easiest
Check NCBYTRAIN.org or Amtrak.com for updated info and to purchase tickets. Use code V814 on Amtrak for a 15% off student discount.
