Welcome from the Secretary-General
On behalf of the Secretariat and Carolina’s International Relations Association, it is with great pleasure and honor that I welcome you to the eleventh iteration of the University of North Carolina Model United Nations Conference.
UNCMUNC XI will differ from our previous conferences this year in that it will be a four-day conference rather than a three-day conference, held from November 7th to 10th, 2019. Also, we have created several new additions that will create an overall better conference experience for delegations and delegates of all levels. We are thrilled to host you all. Our lovely town of Chapel Hill boasts a wonderful collection of eateries, bars, and entertainment venues. And don’t worry, we plan to accentuate these various attributes through our socials, in which delegates can experience a night of fun as a Tar Heel in this great college town!
Since 2008, UNCMUNC has strived to create dynamic and inventive crisis committees where delegates were able to grow, learn, and thrive, and this year is no exception. We have a fantastic array of committees carefully curated by the entire Secretariat and written by experienced Chairs and Crisis Directors. From Lord of the Rings to the War of the Roses, we hope that you find these committees riveting and engaging. Both new and experienced delegates have a place here, and we will strive to create the best possible experience for all of you.
Last year at UNCMUNC, we introduced the first General Assembly in our collegiate conference which turned out to be a great success! This year, in addition to a GA, we will have a General Assemblies Plus committee, adopted from our high-school conference. We are thrilled to see the debate it yields.
All of us here at UNC are incredibly excited to welcome each and every one of you to our beautiful campus in the fall. We cannot wait to oversee your vigorous and insightful debates. Here’s to a weekend, and a conference, that will change your MUN experience!
