Welcome from the Secretary-General

Dear Delegates,

On behalf of our Secretariat and the Carolina International Relations Association, it is my absolute pleasure to welcome you to the tenth iteration of the University of North Carolina Model United Nations Conference.

UNCMUNC X will be held from November 2nd to 4th, 2018, on the beautiful campus of the University of North Carolina. Our lovely town of Chapel Hill, while appearing fairly unassuming, boasts a wonderful collection of eateries, bars, and entertainment venues. And don’t worry, we plan to accentuate these various attributes through our two socials, in which delegates can experience a night of fun in this great college town.

Over the last ten years, we have endeavored to create dynamic and inventive crisis committees where delegates were able to grow, learn, and thrive, and this year is no exception. We have a fantastic array of committees planned for this fall, from pivotal eras in world history such as the Waitangi Tribunal and the American Civil War JCC, to inventive fantasy committees such as the Batman Council of Villains. This year, we are introducing our first ever General Assembly: the United Nations Interim Forces in Lebanon (UNIFIL), and we cannot wait to see the debate it yields. Both new and experienced delegates have a home here, and we will strive to create the best possible experience for all of you.

All of us here at UNC are exceptionally excited to welcome each and every one of you and we cannot wait to oversee your vigorous and insightful debates. Here’s to a weekend, and a conference, that I’m sure will be truly unforgettable!

Best wishes,

Mason Doyle
