Swaraj and Sovereignty: India’s Fight For Freedom
A TRADITIONAL CRISIS COMMITTEE
ABOUT THIS COMMITTEE
Speech continues to be silenced, but no matter how hard they try, the oppressors cannot silence the movement.
It is August 1942. In the wake of the Quit India Movement, the British Raj has arrested much of the top leadership of the Indian National Congress. This censorship fails to quash the resistance. Underground networks of students, workers, and revolutionaries form. Some call for nonviolent defiance. Others turn to sabotage, targeting railways, telegraphs, and symbols of imperial control. Meanwhile, the British Raj tightens its grip, deploying censorship, mass detentions, and military force to suppress dissent, all while fighting a global war that strains its resources. In this crisis, delegates will navigate the struggle for independence, whether through resistance, reform, or repression. Even within the independence movement, political and communal tensions grow, raising difficult questions about representation and the structure of a future state.
Delegates on all sides must decide: will the nation hold, or will it fracture under pressure?
