ABOUT THIS COMMITTEE

When armed conflicts and forced migration occur in various war–torn states across the globe, survival takes priority over education. However, the United Nations recognizes that in order for people to not only survive– but thrive– migrant youth need to continue their primary studies and workers need education for better employment opportunities. Education systems are increasingly disrupted, targeted, and weaponized. The destruction of schools, displacement of teachers and students, and long–term psychological impacts on youth threaten not only individual futures but global peace and development. This UNESCO committee calls upon delegates to address the urgent and complex challenge of protecting the right to education during times of war and crisis.

How can UNESCO create long–term, sustainable solutions for providing education for all ages– tackling youth and workers– in war–torn areas?
