ABOUT THIS COMMITTEE
The Organization of American States (OAS) has been tasked with addressing The Human Rights Implications of Mass Incarceration and Crime Reduction in Latin America. According to a 2017 report by the OAS, Latin America and the Caribbean face a direct cost of $260 billion a year in crime and violence, or 3.6% of their GDP. Delegates in this committee will address these issues through two key topics by developing comprehensive strategies to tackle both crime and the structural problems that contribute to it.

Pranav is a sophomore from Cary, NC, studying Public Policy and Media & Journalism with a Political Communications concentration. After joining Model UN in college and staffing UNCMUNC last year, Pranav quickly fell in love with the community and is so excited to serve on UNCMUNC Secretariat for the first time. As the USG of General Assemblies and GAPs, Pranav is excited to help make UNCMUNC an unforgettable experience for everyone involved! Within CIRA, Pranav is also on the CarolinaMUN travel team and the Campus Affairs branch. Aside from his work, you can find Pranav in the pool, enjoying the outdoors, or watching sports!
